DISTRACTION OF OPERATING FLIGHT CREW AND PILOT TRANSIT CHECK WITH REFUELING

DISTRACTION OF OPERATING FLIGHT CREW

A crew shall strictly adhere to the sterile cockpit rule as given in the relevant aircraft type Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Safety Emergency Procedures (SEP) manual and refer to Sterile Cockpit Procedures. The Commander must ensure that in general there is no unnecessary conversation or nonessential duties in the cockpit during all phases of flight, including ground maneuvering. This rule may be relaxed during cruise (or cruise climb) provided at least one suitably qualified pilot remains at the controls of the aircraft at all times.

PILOT TRANSIT CHECK

The commander is to perform a pilot transit check into a station where no refueling is required and no engineer is present.

PILOT TRANSIT CHECK WITH REFUELING

Where refueling is required and no engineer present, the commander will perform the required refueling duties. Pilot Transit Check (PTC) with refueling procedures will be implemented at certain stations. However, in the event of diversions due to weather or non-technical issues, Pilot in Command is authorized to carry out a PTC with refueling in ALL airports. The company will inform the pilots of the stations whereby this procedure is to be implemented.

DCAM has granted The Company approval for a PIC transit check at all airports, in the event of diversions due weather or non-technical issues. Pilot in Command is authorized to carry out a PTC with refueling.
